In order for our insurance to cover the medications we have to buy them from their home delivery pharmacy. The picture above is from a few days ago when our IVF meds were delivered. Looks overwhelming, right?! To be completely honest, it's really not much worse than our IUI cycles.
So, what's in the stash of meds?
-Menopur/Bravelle: Injections the cause the follicles to grow and mature.
-Ganirelix: Injections used to prevent ovulation from happening prematurely.
-Ovidrel: Injections used to induce ovulation once the follicles have matured
-Methylprednosolone: Steroid used to suppress any inflammation between embryos and endometrial lining
-Z-pack: Antibiotic to keep away any infection that could be presented during egg retrieval / embryo transfer
-Vicodin: Pain medication to be taken the day of egg retrieval
-Zofran: Anti-nausea medication to be taken the day of egg retrieval
-Progesterone in Ethyl Oleate: Intramuscular injection (ouch!) of progesterone administered beginning the day of egg retrieval until beta test 10 days later. These have to be administered by Matt. Better be nice to him ;-)
-Baby aspirin: Improves blood flow to the ovaries and uterus
This all seems more real with the meds in our possession!
That is a lot of medicine friend! How do you keep track of what you need to take when? Knowing you, a spreadsheet must be involved?

ReplyDeleteYou know me too well! I have a calendar on the fridge with all the dates/times of when I'm supposed to take things :)
